With it just being them two on the island for six months, April goes exploring and comes across a stranded polar bear. This book follows April who joins her father to Bear Island in the Atlantic circle. I finished this one last night but wanted to wait a bit before writing my review, and this one stayed with me and I think that's a sign of just how important and amazing a read this is.

PS-The book is full of beautiful illustrations I’m going to have to get creative as I do a lot now and I want to do many more things that matter before I die. This book made me cry so hard and I’m looking at even more things to do to help with the animals and nature that matter more to me than anything. April and her dad become closer and he quits his job at home to take a more environmental job by the sea and April plans on helping the planet and growing up to come back and help the bears.

April makes it possible for him to get back home with the help of others after they saw her bravery and their bond. April almost dies saving Bear but Bear saves her. We learn how Bear ended up there, April and her father argue and become close. Now I know this is part magical realism <-is that the word? Anyway, April slowly befriends Bear, she feeds him and gets the plastic off his foot and they become friends. April meets a skinny polar bear that has some plastic and crap wrapped around his foot. Hell with it, I’ll put it in a spoiler tag. Her father is always busy so April wanders the island (Bear Island) and picks up crap from people that made it all the way to the island. April and her father aren’t as close after her mother died years ago What a perfect book to buy for my bday and the main character is named, April 😊💕🌸Īpril’s father takes her with him to an Arctic Outpost for six months while he does work with weather stuff. The book is numbered, signed, has beautiful sprayed edges and I got an art print with it which is framed and ready for the wall. I just read my favorite book of the year! (those that know me, this is nothing new) I ordered this flat out when I got the email and read what it was about.
